Shower Glass in Yas Island

Yas Island’s homes are new — villa estates handed over in recent years, bathrooms finished to a developer standard and waiting for their owners to make them their own. That is where most of the island’s shower glass work begins: glass fitted as part of a home’s finishing, or the first upgrade once the family has lived with the standard layout for a while and knows exactly what it wants changed. ShowerTubGlass measures, makes and fits custom shower glass across Yas Island — Yas Acres, Ansam, West Yas and Yas Greens — in 10mm glass with hardware in chrome, black or gold, every panel resolved around the finished opening rather than the developer’s drawing. Send photos on WhatsApp to start; the emirate-wide picture is on our shower glass in Abu Dhabi page.

Yas Island's communities and their bathrooms

  • Yas Acres — the island’s large villa estate: family villas with generous master ensuites, where the common job is upgrading the standard shower enclosure to a made-to-measure layout — a wider hinged door, a fixed walk-in panel, or a corner arrangement the original plan left plain.
  • Ansam — apartment buildings on the golf side of the island; bathrooms a step smaller than Yas Acres, where fixed-plus-door layouts and bath screens do most of the work.
  • West Yas — villa plots and family homes with bathrooms that vary more from house to house, because so many were finished by their owners — which makes measuring, not catalogue sizes, the whole game.
  • Yas Greens — the newer villa community, where handovers are recent and glass is often part of the first round of finishing: the ensuite enclosure the developer left basic, done properly from the start.

Across all four, the pattern is the same: sound, new bathrooms whose glass is either absent, basic, or fitted to a drawing rather than to the room. Newness is an advantage — tiles are fresh, walls are true, and nothing has had years to perish — but it does not make the openings standard. They never are.

What we do on Yas Island

  1. New shower glass installation — made-to-measure partitions and enclosures for new and newly handed-over homes, planned around the finished opening.
  2. Shower glass repair — even new glass gets damaged, leaks at a badly fitted seal, or arrives with hardware that was never adjusted properly; faults are diagnosed from photos first.
  3. Hinged doors — wall-to-glass and glass-to-glass doors for the island’s villa ensuites, where swing room is rarely the problem.
  4. Sliding doors — for the smaller second bathrooms and townhouse ensuites, where a swinging door would eat the room.
  5. Screens & fixed walk-in glass — the new-build favourite: one calm panel, no door, sized against the real splash zone — how wide it needs to be is worked through in our guide to how wide a fixed screen needs to be to stop splash.
  6. Bathtub glass screens — fixed and hinged screens sealed at the bath edge, the standard replacement for the curtain in family bathrooms.
  7. Prices, honestly explained — the factors that move a quote, explained on the price guide; no figures are published on this page.

If you are mid-handover and wondering what the fitting visit itself involves, our walkthrough of what happens on installation day sets out the sequence honestly.

Typical Yas Island bathrooms — and what gets changed in them

Nothing on Yas Island is old yet, so the “what goes wrong” list here is really a “what was never quite right” list:

  • Developer-standard enclosures that leak from the start. Glass fitted quickly across hundreds of identical bathrooms tends to be fitted to the drawing, not the room: seals that meet at most points, a door line that lets spray through at one corner. The fix is usually adjustment and proper sealing; where the glass itself was cut short, replacement panels are made to the real opening.
  • Open walk-in layouts that throw spray further than expected. A fixed panel sized for the brochure photograph rather than the splash zone leaves the floor — and the towels — wet. Extending the panel, or adding a hinged door to the layout, closes the gap properly; which one suits is a measurement question, of the kind covered in our guide to shower glass for small bathrooms and tight layouts.
  • Bathrooms finished without glass at all. Some handovers leave the shower as an open tiled area or a curtain rail. The first-fit job — screen, door or full enclosure, measured into the finished room — is the most straightforward work we do.
  • Curtains over baths. The family bathroom standard. A sealed glass screen ends the wet floor and the clinging curtain in one fitting.

Repairs on the island follow the same rule as everywhere: if the glass is sound, the fault is in seals, alignment or hardware, and it is fixed as a repair — never sold as a replacement it does not need to be.

How it works

  1. Send photos on WhatsApp — the whole bathroom, the shower as it stands, rough sizes, and your community on Yas Island. First-upgrade and handover jobs start exactly the same way as repairs.
  2. We measure — the finished opening is the specification. True widths and levels are checked on site; in new homes this is also where the layout choice (door, screen or enclosure) is settled against the real room.
  3. Glass is made — cut and finished to those measurements, hardware in the finish you have chosen.
  4. Install and seal — fitted and aligned on the day; water testing and first use follow the sealant’s curing time, confirmed in writing at handover; in an occupied new home, the room is left clean and usable the same visit.

Frequently asked questions

We have just taken handover in Yas Acres. When should the glass be fitted?

As soon as the tiling is finished and the bathroom can be measured — ideally inside your snagging period, so any developer-side tiling faults are still the developer’s to fix. Message us with photos when the keys are in your hand; we measure the finished opening, not the plan.

Can you replace the standard enclosure our villa came with?

Yes — that is the island’s most common job. The standard enclosure comes out, the opening is measured as it actually is, and the new glass is made to it: a better layout, proper seals, hardware in your finish. Send photos of what is there now and what you want instead.

Our new walk-in shower soaks the bathroom floor. Do we need a door?

Not always. If the panel is simply too short for the spray, extending the fixed glass can solve it; if the spray zone is wide or the head aims across the opening, a hinged door on the panel is the reliable close. We will tell you which from photos and sizes — and if a longer panel alone will not do it, we will say that before you spend on it.

Do Yas Island buildings or communities need approval for fitting work?

Villas on Yas are mostly individual homes, so approval is rarely the issue it is in towers — but gated communities can have their own access rules for contractor vehicles and working hours. Tell us your community in the first message and we will work within its rules.

Can the hardware match the black taps and fittings our bathroom came with?

Yes — hardware is available in chrome, black and gold, and the glass is specified to sit with the fittings you already have. Send a photo of the existing finish with your first message and the match is planned from the start.
